Raegan First Rider, a 20-year-old Jingle Dress dancer from the Kainai Nation, carries her Blackfoot name Isspiitaapoyi, meaning Stands Tall, with pride. She works as an educational assistant with the Kainai Board of Education district and hopes to become an elementary school teacher to continue supporting youth in her community. Raegan began dancing at the age of seven and has since embraced the Jingle Dress as a powerful expression of healing and cultural connection.
Her dedication to dance and community has led her to hold several titles, including Miss Blackfoot Canada 2022, Kainai High School Princess 2023, and Miss Kainai Sr. Princess 2023. Through these roles, Raegan has represented her people across Canada and the United States, gaining meaningful experience as an ambassador and public speaker. She is also a member of the Sisters in Spirit Committee (Lethbridge Chapter), where she performs the healing dance and speaks on behalf of Indigenous youth.
Raegan continues to use her voice and passion for dance to inspire others and honour her Blackfoot heritage.
