Laurie Sterritt is a values-based leader with over 30 years of experience in the fields of Indigenous, government, and community relations; business planning & strategy; organizational & leadership development; and executive search. She has managed teams of both large and small sizes, bringing positive energy and empathy to all her work.
Before launching Pathways, Laurie was the Managing Director and National Indigenous and Diversity Practice Lead for Leaders International Executive Search. Earlier, she developed and
produced the first-of-its-kind Indigenous Women’s Leadership Summit (IWLS) to inspire and uplift Indigenous women throughout their personal and professional journeys. Before that, Laurie
led the Indigenous Employment and Business Development strategy for BC Hydro and was the founding CEO of the Aboriginal Mentoring and Training Association (AMTA) and its subsidiary
social enterprise, First Resources Impact Ventures (FRIV). A point of pride for Laurie, AMTA has provided life-changing education, training, and mentorship programs to more than 2,700
Indigenous candidates, preparing them for careers in the mining, energy, forestry, and industrial construction industries. FRIV was dedicated to assisting First Nation communities in building their own sustainable businesses within the natural resources sector.
Active in her community, Laurie has served on several boards, including her current Directorship with Denison Mines Ltd. She has held board roles with the Canadian Centre for Arts and
Technology (CANCAT), the Real Estate Council of BC, the Industry Training Authority and British Columbia Institute of Technology, along with many other not-for-profit entities.
A member of the Kispiox Band of the Gitxsan Nation, Laurie holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and a Certificate in Professional Fund Raising from the
University of Indiana, and most recently earned the Chartered Director designation (C.Dir.) from The Directors College at DeGroote School of Business – McMaster University. Laurie has been
recognized for her commitment to creating respectful and inclusive workplaces and was a notable nominee for the 2013 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards
