Ruby Eagle Child is Blackfoot from Treaty 7 and a member of the Kainai (Blood Tribe). She was born on the Blood Reserve and raised by her grandparents, who taught her everything she is knowledgeable in today, including her culture, life values and knowledge of the Blackfoot traditions. She is fluent in the Blackfoot language. 

Eagle Child attended St. Mary’s Residential School and is a Residential School survivor. She continued her education and attended college in Calgary, where she has lived for more than 40 years. She continues to live in Calgary with her two children and grandchildren.  

 She has been a cultural instructor for many years and also provides counselling. Through her work as an Elder, she offers guidance and teachings while supporting the well-being of the community.
