Colleen Runner Waskewitch is an elder from the Tsuutina Nation and is the Executive Director for Guest Services Resort Wide at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino since May 2014 up to present.
She attended University of Lethbridge in 1981. However, her passion in hospitality was further strengthened when she finished a Certification of the Hospitality Management Program at SAIT in 2013. She shifted careers after years of serving different roles, on the Tsuut’ina Nation.
With different Executive Roles she had on the Tsuut’ina Nation. She accomplished a number of major projects. Among the projects that she was really proud of, was leading the negotiations for the Newly Formed Tsuut’ina Police Force’s Tripartite Agreement.
Colleen is passionate about building relationships with the Citizens of Calgary, through her work in hospitality and in her personal life, while fostering collaborations on her many projects. When she is not at work, you can find her volunteering her time as Board Member (Vice President) on the Niitoiyis Family Support Society, in Calgary. She has committed her time and skills to helping those dealing with Indigenous Women’s Rights and Issues.
Colleen is also a Board Member of the “Advisor of Traditions and Lifeways” under Community Futures Treaty Seven Organization.
She was the Recipient of the Chief David Crowchild Award in 2020 and a Finalist for the Calgary Mayor’s White Hat Award in 2018. She has recently won the 2025 Legacy and Leadership-Eagle Lifetime Award at Grey Eagle.
As a Tsuut’ina Nation Member, she has been integral to the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino, as an Tsuut’ina Ambassador and plays a key role in the communication, promotion and representation of the Tsuut’ina People’s Culture and Traditions, while educating others on the Treaty 7 First Nation People. She also took responsibility of nurturing and training young Tsuut’ina Members who desired to have the hospitality experience.
Colleen was drawn to the Grey Eagle Resort for its vision to create a positive and lasting legacy for the Tsuut’ina Community and appreciates the opportunity given to her to be part of this vision. She takes great pride in the development and representation, within her community and the significant economic opportunities that will empower for generations to come.
In her spare time, she owns and operates a cattle and farming company called “Yellow Rose Ranch”. She also shares a Gravel Truck Company called “Waskewitch Trucking” with her husband. She enjoys traveling, camping and fishing with her family in the great outdoors. Colleen was a finalist
for the Mayor’s White Hat Award in 2018.
Colleen loves her career and prides herself on being a hard-working professional and skilled ambassador. When talking with Colleen no matter what the situation, you can always expect open, honest, constant communication, integrity and professionalism.
